The 27-year-old is charged with non payment of fines and process fees amounting to 52‘000 franks. The charges relate to violation of Swiss traffic laws as well as the law relating to the regulation of foreign citizens. The man was handed over to the cantonal police of Basel-Stadt.
Is it not too hot for you? Several incidents of Swiss people in Lörrach
A number of incidents involving Swiss suspects occurred in Lörrach on Tuesday. A Swiss Rolls Royce driver is wanted for a number of alleged offences, a woman was arrested after presenting a fake prescription at a pharmacy, and the police are looking for witnesses after an incident at the BAUHAUS shop on Tuesday morning.
The incident occurred at 10.40am at the entrance of the bakery Heitzmann at Industriestrasse, which is next to the BAUHAUS.
On Tuesday afternoon, the police were called to a pharmacy in the German town after a woman had asked for medicine, including psychotropic drugs, after showing staff a prescription which appeared to originate in Switzerland.
The pharmacist doubted the authenticity of the prescription and decided to check with the doctor‘s surgery. The staff there said they were not aware of any prescription given to the women, so the police were called. The investigation revealed that the woman, who lives n Switzerland, had apparently faked the prescription. She was arrested and reported for document fraud.
The third incident involved a Rolls Roye driver.
A man had apparently parked his white Rolls Royce – which has Swiss number plates – in a place which hindered traffic, and kept the engine running. A while later, he was asked by a 64-year-old man to switch off the engine. The driver is said to have reacted aggressively and verbally abused the witness, and stood in front of the man. The driver then fled in his Rolls Royce when he realised the police had been called.
Witnesses noted his number plate and informed the police who asked their Swiss colleagues to investigate. The driver is wanted on charges including attempted personal injury, verbally abuse and threatening someone. Witnesses who saw the incident are asked to contact the police station in Lörrach on phone number 0049-7621-176500.
Investigation against FCB-president Burgener
The power struggle at Constantin Medien is moving into the next round: The prosecution in Munich has begun an investigation into the media entrepreneur and president of FC Basel, Bernhard Burgener.
Senior public prosecutor Hildegard Bäumler-Hösl confirmed on Wednesday to the news agency sda, a report by the „Handelszeitung“ online news service. At the same time she made it clear that no investigations have been taken up against Bernhard Burgener. The necessity of such a step was only being considered, she added.
The investigations were sparked by a criminal charge against Bernhard Burgener as well as several others for alleged breach of trust, insider dealing, and other crimes. The report was submitted by an attorney on behalf of Constanting Medien referring to a report by the prosecution, München I, at the end of April. Bernhard Burgener and the others are presumed innocent until proven otherwise.
Argument about strategy
According to Bäumler-Hösl, the criminal charge has to be seen in the context of an argument concerning corporate law between Constantin Medien and the Swiss companies Highlight Communications and Highlight Event and Entertainment, represented by Burgener.
A fierce struggle is going on at Constantin Medien about the strategy. President Hahn wants to focus on the segments of sport as well as sport and event marketing. The film business, concentrated in Constantin Film, should be sold.
Burgener, who has a central role in the concern as manager of the Highlight Communications branch, is opposing this strategy. Burgener is big shareholder of the holding company Constantin Medien – just like Hahn. Last week Burgener reduced Hahn‘s influence on the most important branch which also holds the film business by legal steps and an increase of capital.
