Weekly Hint 72: “The People Upstairs” in the English seminar theatre

Did you ever want to observe your neighbours without feeling guilty? The newest production of the Basel-based theatre group “The Gay Beggars” offers almost a dozen ways to do so.

In the theatre production “The People Upstairs” at the Department of English in Basel, we encounter the various problems and challenges that form an integral part of relationships. Be it an overly cuddly couple at the café table next to us, the awkward meeting of a one-night-stand and the other roommate in the bathroom, or the text message fragments of a former love, the selection of almost a dozen short plays written by Alex Broun has something for everyone. They can be quite raunchy and contain explicit content, but hilarity and very relatable situations are guaranteed.

“The People Upstairs” starts today at the Department of English in Basel at Nadelberg 6. The premiere is already sold out, but there are still seats available for the shows on the 18th, 21st, 24th, 26th, and 29th April. The regular ticket price is 15 Swiss francs, and 10 francs for students, pensioners, and visitors who receive IV (disability insurance). All shows start at 8pm, and tickets have to be picked up by 7.30pm at the latest. More information and reservation form under this link: http://www.gaybeggars.ch
