Weekly Hint 100: Advent wreath market on Matthäusplatz

If you do not have an Advent wreath at home yet, the Matthäusmarkt in Kleinbasel offers plenty of opportunities to buy candles and decorations on the next two Saturdays.

Christmas is popping up everywhere. Windows and balconies are decorated with red ribbons and fir branches, lights shine from rooftops and shops in the evening. And of course, one should not forget the candles that make the dark nights a little warmer. To celebrate pre-Christmas traditions, the Matthäusmarkt in Kleinbasel has two special market Saturdays coming up: An Advent wreath market on 2nd December and its traditional “Zimtmärt” (cinnamon market) on 9th December. If you want to stock up on decoration materials, enjoy a mulled wine (or even a nice beer from BrauBudeBasel), or just go for a stroll, a detour to Matthäusplatz is worth the trip!

The two Christmas markets are open on 2nd December from 8am to 1pm and on 9th December from 10am to 5pm. More information (in German) is available here.
